ROCK & ROLL HALL OF FAME INDUCTEE PERFORMS LIVE IN TACOMA
Dave Mason celebrates 50 years of music and collaborations
TACOMA, Wash. – Legendary guitarist Dave Mason will bring his ‘Endangered Species Tour’ to Tacoma’s Rialto Theater on Saturday, September 9. The Tour celebrates 50 years of music and collaborations with artists like Fleetwood Mac, The Rolling Stones, George Harrison, and Paul McCartney.
Dave was a founding member of Traffic, which was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2004. Their single “Feelin’ Alright?”, written by Dave, has been covered by many artists. Dave’s solo career took off in the USA after leaving Traffic in 1969. He has penned over 100 songs, has 3 gold albums, and a platinum album “Let It Flow”, which contained the top-ten single “We Just Disagree”.
“I’m a ‘rare bird’, so to speak, sticking to the tour life and to music, and you’re invited to join me in 2023!”, Dave says. “No fireworks, no flashing lights, no go-go dancers, no special effects. Just great songs and a promise of a heart-filled performance.”
While a prolific artist in his own right, Dave has collaborated with an enviable list of music industry icons including Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Graham Nash, Rita Coolidge, and Eric Clapton, among others.
Dave’s Washington State stop reconnects him with the origin one of his most acclaimed collaborators, Jimi Hendrix.
On the album “Electric Lady”, he played acoustic guitar in the mega-hit “All Along the Watchtower” - a favorite in Dave’s live shows!
“At 76 years of age, I'm still loving performing live concerts. I feel grateful for that, and to tell you the truth it surprises the hell out of me. I’ve been doing it for over 60 years and the love is still there”, Dave says.
Joining Dave on this tour is Mark Stein, co-founder of classic rock band Vanilla Fudge (“You keep me Hanging On”, “Season of the Witch”). "Mark brings so much to the stage and to the music," states Dave. "We've always enjoyed each other's music and the chemistry really works. Traffic and Vanilla Fudge released their debut albums in the same year, so we rose up together in the same era. We can't wait to get out there and perform for our fans."
It's rare to find artists with such longevity and vitality from the 1960's, much less two of them on stage together at the same time, performing some of the most iconic and enduring rock songs of all time. Some truly timeless classics. As Dave likes to say, "There are no old songs, only good songs." Give the people what they want.
Dave Mason, presented by Tacoma City Theaters, will perform with his band at Rialto Theater, 310 S 9th St Tacoma, on Saturday, September 9th at 7:30pm. Tickets available at TacomaCityTheaters.org | 253-591-5894.
